“Sometimes the lights all shinin on me;
Other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it’s been…”

April 14, 1980 until September 6, 2018:
- 1,211,846,400 seconds
- 20,197,440 minutes
- 336,624 hours
- 14,026 days
- 2003 weeks and 5 days
- 38 years, 4 months, 25 days
That is a long, sometimes strange trip!
During that span, I was gainfully employed in a full-time job with six different companies. I went to work on weekdays, sometimes weekends, sometimes during the day, sometimes at night.
Now, I’m self-employed. My job is ME.
(Full disclosure: my former employer has provided me with a “soft landing”)
I’ve spent the last 2,592,000 seconds, 43,200 minutes, 720 hours or 30 days, trying to figure out the next step.
I’m not sure what the next step will be. Work for a company or myself? Something familiar or out of my comfort zone? An executive role or just another worker bee?
The answers will come to me. I don’t know when. I’ll keep asking you, I’ll keep asking myself.
“Oh, someday girl, I don’t know when, we’re gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go and we’ll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us – baby we were born to run…”
